Today, I went to my neurology appt. at 1100. I took a book, as I remembered how common it is for neuro to see patients for much longer than slotted. I almost finished it, as I was seen at 1140.

Dr. Wilke is the most fabulous and intelligent doctor that I have met in Eisenhower Army Medical Center. I last saw him nearly a year ago, and after a brief glance at my records in his computer, he picked up from it as if it were a 4 week followup.

changes: migraines were more common, 2 MRIs had been conducted, my arms were having sensations that weren’t supposed to be there, and I had seen urology a few times.

I had done some things I shouldn’t have since I last saw him… I had weaned myself off gabepentin (neurontin) as it was not being successful with my issue in my gums. I should’ve consulted him first… oops. I had also become a frequent user of Percocet… not addictively, but rather that my constant requests for finding an alternative had been unsuccessful… this led to a rather familiar lecture on narcotics.

I now take

Zantac (GI problems from too much NSAIDs),
Claritin (mold allergy),
Uroxatrol (enlarged prostate [yay! =( ]),
Neurontin (again… for my sciatic nerve issues this time)… but I’m weaning off it again due to nausea,
Topamax (FINALLY… a long-term solution to migraines!),
Phenergan (to deal with Neurontin’s side effect),
and the occasional Percocet as needed for crazy-insane pain.

what a wonderful list… yes, I use a dosage timer box thingy…. I have to, it’s like a PDA calendar for my meds.

scary thing is that I’ll be on half of those til I die.

Why am I posting? because I just took a perc, a phen, a urox, and a neruontin after he injected the base of my skull with steroids to stop my arms from thier wonky nerves and to ease my migraine and omg…

I ….. feel… PAINFREE.

After I sat still for a moment enjoying this, I realized that I had forgotten how normal felt… and then I asked Holly… “is this how normal people feel?” I couldn’t stop the tears at that point. I cried until it hurt, and did some sort of chi balance or something to compose myself to stop the pain again…. that brief moment… I felt normal again.

Thank you very much, LTC Wilke, you have brought to me a happiness that I thought was lost forever. For that, I am eternally grateful, even though it was just 1-2min… it’s still a feeling I haven’t felt for over 5 years.

in wow news, I hit 70 again, making it 2x70s and a level 66. Maybe I’ll have 3x70s by the end of the month.

Then what? warrior? shaman? hmmm.. decisions, decisions.

Wonderful day when it starts off with a break in your routine. I go to the Gym for PT, right? doc said to, even noted it in my profile. I get ready to go today and right after our profiles are checked by cadre, up comes the platoon cadre saying “If you’re here, get back into formation and stretch. I don’t care what your profile says, you can stretch.” Umm… here, lemme destroy 2 discs in your back and see how well you can stretch. I was pretty much, under threat of UCMJ, forced to break my profile and do PT on the field…. wait, that doesn’t add up right. No, it adds up to, and get this, IG COMPLAINT!

If she wants to try that on me again, I’m going straight to IG. You don’t wanna try and screw up the day of someone who hasn’t known what it feels like to be pain free for over 4 years, who wakes up every day regretting life because they can’t get up. I’m so close to the answers to all my questions… I dare her to try and mess up my progress now.

So, here’s the basic update: 2 herniated discs in my lower lumbar. Great stuff, I’ll never run again. =(

Today’s Summary:

Schedule: Wake up 0730. Go to Tacsat Briefing 0800. Go home 0900. Go to Physical Therapy 1030. Go home 1130. Go to Mailcall 1530. Go to Class 1645. Go home 2315.

What really happened: Wake up 0700. Go to Tacsat Briefing 0800. Wait for 30min for someone to show up. Proceed to begin a new shift of class even though we were told we’re staying on Swing shift. Go to Physical Therapy 1000. Get out of class 1615. Get told by Firefighters that there’s a gas leak in the building where I parked and that I can’t start my car til it’s clear1617. Go to Mailcall 1635. Go home 1705.

wth?

I hate this crap. lazy people don’t wanna do some simple paperwork.
