Dual Display
Okay, so I decided that my video settings in WoW aren’t quite the best, my Framerate was hitting below 15 wayy too much.
The best way to solve that issue: full screen with a lower resolution.
Main problem: I run on an LCD, a type of screen which has only so many Pixels and has what’s called a “Native Resolution” where the best resolution to use is going to be the one that will fit every displayed pixel to every physical pixel. This reduces the work that the physical ones need to perform to match the displayed resolution. (a less than native resolution will result in a slower response time)
Idea: grab a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitor and hook it up so I can run whatever resolution without lag or sacrifice in sharpness. Even better: run both monitors on the separate plugs on teh video card and have dual screens. Usual setup will allow me to have an application running fullscreen on one and my desktop displayed on the other.
Flop: Hydravision isn’t very fun to play with, it’s not hard, but it can get frustrating when you’re working with a 100lb monitor.
Result: crap. Any non-enhanced CRT monitor will never be nearly as bright as an LCD. This caused my eyes to hurt from having to adjust between them so often.
So, if you ever consider doing this, for heavens sake, please use identical screens.
At least my desk has been cleaned off.
