Clean Slate

So I decided that it’s time to start anew.
I removed the old Arakkis, redid the atmosphere, grew some vegetation, and maybe kept a little sanctuary or two.
Well, here it is.

I’m now living in Salt Lake City, again.
Here’s the factors that influenced the hasty move:

• Lubbock has a steadily increasing unemployment rate, wages are low, prices are inflating, Gas was rapidly becomming a luxury.
• I was part of the unemployment rate.
• SLC, UT was ranked as 2nd lowest unemployment rate in the nation. No inflation problems. Wages = super high (i.e. a manager in Lubbock made about $8.50 at fast food after years of working there… and that’s a bit high for that, that’s starting wage almost ANYWHERE in UT)
• Mortgage was closely becoming something that was no longer payable. Holly’s wages barely paid for gas+food.

So within 5 days of landing in the “promised land” I nailed an awesome job for a company that I’ve dreamed of working at for years. I started at $8.50 and I’m looking at maybe $3-4 in raises over the next year. No benefits, but hey, that’s not a bad starting thing to get us on our feet. I spent all that we had to get us here.

It took Holly a little longer to get the job that she likes, had 1 flop, but after that hell, she was able to find one that’s pretty neat, it’s an overnight watching over mentally handicapped. Her’s has benefits and likely overtime if she wants, so we might be able to pull in something nice when it comes time to find a place to live.

So we’re here, I need to pay the storage rent, I need to get squared away with WaMu, and things are looking hopeful.

I want to say so many things, but it looks like I’ll be reviewing some games, hardware, the town, and stuff, so if you’re interested in computer stuff or just wanna know what life is like in my eyes, stay tuned, I promise I won’t use this as a picture fileserver again. =D
